    IDENTIFICATION OF FRESHNESS LEVEL AND FISHES’ PHYSICAL DAMAGE AT SUNDAY MARKET OF BENGKULU CITY

    SUMMARY

    The purposes of this research are to identify fishes’ freshness level at Sunday Market of Bengkulu City based on Indonesia National Standard 01-2729.1-2006 about Spesification of Fresh Fish, kinds of fishes’ physical damage, and the factors influence that physical damage. Method of the research used is survey method. The data analysis used qualitative inductive method is approach with describing of data from generally form into specific form.
    Results of the research showed that 1) level of fishes’ freshness at Sunday Marketof Bengkulu City based on Indonesia National Standard 01-2729.1-2006 about Spesification of Fresh Fish showed in morning all of fishes in fresh criteria, in noon only Sarden fish descended in freshness level, in afternoon average fifth of fishes is not fresh criteria; 2) kinds of the fishes’ physical damage at Sunday Market of Bengkulu City for a) Sarden Fish are out of stomach’s contents and detached of head, b) Tuna Fish and Tongkol Fish are bruise, injure, there are strange things are abnormally in fishes’ body, and c) Pomfret fish and Calcarifer fish are bruise and injure; and 3) the cause of factors to fishes’ physical damage ata Sunday Morning of Bengkulu City for a) Sarden fish are trampled down, piling up is too high in storage container before they are saled and in saled time at the market,   b) Tuna fish and Tongkol fish are the fishes catching tools are incorrectly, throw down forcefully, and packaging is incorrectly during process of transportation and distribution, c) Pomfret fish and Calcarifer fish are throw down forcefully, piling up is too high in storage container before they are saled and in saled time at the market, and packaging is incorrectly during process of transportation and distribution.
