ABSTRACT
The purposes of this research are to describe the potential
of coastal area ecotourism of Bengkulu City, to measure the societies’
perception to that potential, and to analyze that economic value. Analysis method used is descriptive method with qualitative and
quantitative approach. The description potential of coastal area ecotorism of
Bengkulu City through data of direct observation results to research location,
the measuring of that potential used Likert
Scale with 5 (five) scales, i.e. very agree, agree, hesitant, not agree, and
very not agree, and that economic value used Travel Cost Method.
Results of the research showed that 1) the potential of coastal area
ecotourism of Bengkulu City include (a) nature attraction consists of Long
Beach, Tapak Paderi Beach, Zakat Beach, (b) cultural attraction like Tabot
tradition, and (c) historical attraction consiss of Fort Marlborough, Thomas
Parr Monuments, Hamilton Column, British Cemetary, Isolation House of Bung
Karno, and Inheritance House of British General Governor; 2) The societies’
perception to potential of coastal area of Bengkulu City include (a)
originality of nature environment and cultural in very good criteria, (b)
existence and societies’s support in medium criteria, (c) education and
experience in good criteria, (d)
ability of managerial management in not good criteria, and (e) amenitas in
medium criteria; and 3) totally, total of economic value of coastal area of
Bengkulu City amounts of Rp.2.616.000,-
and average of economic
value of coastal area of Bengkulu City amounts of Rp.872.000,-.
